2035 Initiative Faculty Eric Masanet Appointed to Federal Advisory Committee To Reduce Emissions Across the Industrial Sector

The U.S. Secretary of Energy has appointed Eric Masanet as one of 18 members to the new Industrial Technology Innovation Advisory Committee (ITIAC) to help decarbonize America’s industrial sector.

The industrial sector accounts for nearly a quarter of the nation’s climate pollution. We need to decarbonize the industrial sector to achieve climate goals and promote an equitable and resilient future. This will require a large-scale, multidimensional effort that brings together diverse stakeholders from academia, industry, non-profits, and other organizations.

In his new role, Dr. Eric Masanet will advise the U.S. Secretary of Energy on developing a comprehensive strategy to accelerate the development of clean technologies that will cut climate pollution across the U.S. industrial sector. This strategy will be instrumental in moving the nation closer to net-zero emissions by 2050.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office will manage ITIAC. Visit the ITIAC website for more information on the committee, its members, and how to attend upcoming meetings.
